HESA applies to be designated data body for OfS

HESA has today submitted its expression of interest to become the designated body for higher education information in England

The Higher Education and Research Act 2017 establishes the OfS as the new regulator for higher education in England and enables it to recommend a body to provide the necessary data and information about the sector.

By submitting our expression of interest, we have now taken the first step in the formal process to become the designated data body as identified in the act.

Our submission highlights HESA’s 24 years of experience as the trusted experts in collecting, securely storing, analysing and disseminating data on higher education in the UK. As an independent charity, owned by the HE sector, our purpose is to advance higher education by working on behalf of both HE providers and the sector bodies that regulate and fund them. HESA’s submission sets out its record of continuous innovation and its focus on efficiency to minimise the burden of data provision on HE providers.
