Estates management record 2016/17 - Notification log

This document summarises all communications associated with the 2016/17 Estates management record, starting with the publication of known changes to the record in March 2017 all the way through to collection closure in March 2018.

HESA issue regular communications during the life of a collection:

  • Circulars: announcements to interested parties concerning or issues relating to the collection. Circulars are always made available on the HESA website for later reference, and emailed out to the mailgroup for the collection.
  • Coding manual release overviews: these document iterative changes to the technical documentation that define the form of the data to be submitted, as well as being a place to host resources associated with collecting that data.

2018-02-26 Coding manual release - version 1.4

Version 1.4 of the coding manual includes:

An update to the guidance for the 'Purchase of renewable energy through green tariffs - D72a' entity.

2018-01-18 Coding manual release - version 1.3

Version 1.3 of the coding manual includes:

An update to the Gross Internal Area and Net Internal Area document to include internal car parks in the list of exclusions for Net Internal Area.

2017-12-14 Coding manual release - version 1.2

Version 1.2 of the coding manual includes:

A small number guidance changes have been made, detailed more fully in the Revision History.

2017-10-26 Coding manual release - version 1.1

Version 1.1 of the coding manual includes:

A small number of guidance and description changes have been made and the data items pdf has been removed from the manual, detailed more fully in the Revision History.

  • The Calculated data items containing a list of the data items that are automatically calculated in the webform.
  • The Derived field specifications applied by HESA to Estates management record data.
  • The Fixed database facility describing the process for submitting corrected data to HESA once the Estates management collection has closed.
  • The Nil return sign-off form that must be submitted to HESA when the higher education provider will not be returning Estates management record data.
  • The Quality rules which enforce the quality of the submitted data.
  • The Ratio definitions containing a list of the ratios produced by HESA together with a description of how they are calculated.

2017-10-12 Coding manual release - version 1.0

Version 1.0 of the coding manual includes the full technical specification of the record for the 2016/17 reporting period. The schema, field specifications, valid entries, and guidance are all now available. The changes announced previously for this collection have been implemented in the specification.

A number of guidance and description changes have been made, detailed more fully in the Revision History.

The Health and Safety section and Space charging entity have been removed from the record.
