Code 1 'Continued employment, new HESA contract record generated' should be used where the higher education provider (HEP) generates a new contract record following a change in the employment of a member of staff for example following a promotion.

Where a fixed term contract comes to an end often the staff member can become redundant, however in this scenario it is expected that code '3 End of fixed-term contract' is used in preference to code '5 Other redundancy'.
