As part of their latest data submission, HE providers are able to restate previous year's figures. In this chart, previous year's figures are based on restated figures (so the 2018/19 figures are taken from the 2019/20 return; the 2017/18 figures are from the 2018/19 return and so on).
In 2020/21, Part A of the record has been suspended following initial review of the HE-BCI data collection. The future re-introduction of Part A will be explored during the ongoing HE-BCI major review.

HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency) is part of Jisc . We are the experts in UK higher education data and analysis. We have been collecting business and community interaction information since the 2008/09 academic year.
We provide data and analysis to a wide variety of customers, including:

Universities (via the Heidi Plus analytics tool )
Academic and commercial researchers
Students and potential students
Policy makers.
Our data is used to regulate the sector, inform policy making, advance understanding of social and economic trends, support student decision making, and enhance public understanding of - and confidence in - the higher education sector.
HE provider
In tables where multiple academic years of data are shown, the provider's name in the latest academic year is used throughout. See Provider mergers and changes for further information.
Restated figures
As part of the most recent data submission, HE providers are able to restate some of the previous year's figures. So, for example, the 2017/18 submission includes restated figures for 2016/17. The notes under each table or chart record whether restated figures are used or not.
