Students in Higher Education 2015/16
This product contains detailed analysis of the student dataset that we collect. This includes breakdowns by subject of study, level of study, mode of study, age, sex, ethnicity, disability, domicile and much more. There are also tables providing a comprehensive look at the qualifications obtained by students at all levels.

The first release of staff data for the academic year 2015/16 shows that 410,130 staff were employed in the HE sector of whom 201,380 (49%) were academic staff. 17% of academic staff were EU nationals and 12% had a non-EU nationality. 24% of professors were female.

Higher education student enrolments and qualifications obtained at higher education providers in the United Kingdom 2015/16
The first release of student data for the academic year 2015/16 shows that 2,280,830 students were enrolled at HE providers in 2015/16, an increase of 0.7% on last year's figure. The number of first year students from outside the EU fell for the second year in a row. 742,730 HE qualifications were awarded and 24% of first degree graduates gained a first class honours classification.

The publication aims to present a comprehensive set of statistical information about a range of aspects of the UK higher education sector.

Higher Education Statistics for the UK serves as a quick reference guide to high-level data on all aspects of higher education in the UK.
The product is published in conjunction with the Government Statistical Service and is a National Statistics product. A wide variety of data is presented from all of our data streams and other organisations' streams. Much of this data is shown at sector level.
