  • Foreword - Higher Education Statistics 2012/13

    HESA is pleased to present the annual official statistical overview of higher education in the United Kingdom (UK) for the year 2012/13. This is the latest edition in a series that was initiated by the then Department for Education in 1993. It is a National Statistics publication.

    The publication aims to present a comprehensive set of statistical information about a range of aspects of the UK higher education sector.

This National Statistics publication gives a statistical overview of higher education (HE) in the 2012/13 academic year including data from HESA and other statistics producers.   • Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education in the United Kingdom for the academic year 2012/13

    This Statistical First Release (SFR) has been produced by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), in collaboration with statisticians from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), the Welsh Government (WG), the Scottish Government (SG) and the Department for Employment and Learning Northern Ireland (DEL(NI)). It has been released according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority. The SFR provides details of the destinations of UK and other European Union domiciled leavers from higher education (HE) who obtained qualifications in higher education institutions (HEIs) in the United Kingdom (UK), during the academic year 2012/13. The data presented draws on the 2012/13 Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey and presents time series analysis relating to 2011/12 when the revised DLHE survey was introduced.

    HESA publication 'Finances of Higher Education Institutions 2012/13' released today.

    Finances of Higher Education Institutions 2012/13 shows that UK HE institutions (HEIs) spent £2.4 billion on buildings and £0.7 billion on equipment in 2012/13, giving a total capital expenditure of £3.1 billion.
