This document summarises the changes to the Staff record that will be implemented for 2020/21. Where valid entries are known they have been included. The first version of the C20025 Coding Manual will contain further detail.
Field Removal
The following fields will be removed from the record due to the completion of the REF exercise:
Person.REFUOA2021
Contract.ECRSTAT
Contract.REFFTE
Person.DATEFHEI may be removed from the return, this is currently in discussion with Statutory Customers and we will notify providers of any further changes once this position has been finalised.
29-04-21 This field has now been removed from the Staff return, in agreement with the Statutory Customers.
Updates to existing fields
Person.ACTCHQUAL
As communicated last year, ATCHQUAL valid entries 02, 03, 04 & 05 will be removed from the record.
These codes map directly to the new codes of 11, 12, 13, and 14 which were updated for C19025 to the new label to reflect the organisational change to Advance HE.
The guidance for code 01 has been clarified:
Where a staff member has completed an accredited course that leads to an award, but has not gone forward for the accreditation, should be returned under valid entry '09 - Other UK accreditation or qualification in teaching in the higher education sector'.
Contract.RESCON
New valid entry ‘Non Academic contract issued’ to be added to RESCON.
This code is to be used by providers not opted into the voluntary submission of staff outside of the coverage, when the staff member moves from an academic post to a non-academic contract, taking them out of the coverage of the record.
New valid entries are to be added to the personal characteristic fields:
Not Available is to be added to DISABLE, ETHNIC, GENREASSIGN, ACTLEAVE, LOCLEAVE, NATIOND, RELBLF & SEXORT
Information Refused is to be added to ACTLEAVE
Valid entry “Not Available” should be used when the provider does not know the information i.e. the staff member did not respond to the request for information.
Update to CAH Usage
Adoption of CAH Version 1.3.2 will be undertaken for the 2020/21 year.
