Discover Uni 2024/25 (C24061): Notification of Changes

As communicated to providers by the OfS and HESA (Jisc) on 27 April 2023, the name of the Unistats collection will be changed to the Discover Uni collection for 2024/25.  

The coverage of the record to be updated to align with the HESA Student return and refer to the Qualification.QUALCAT and not Course.COURSEAIM

To be amended to:

The Discover Uni record is required to be returned by all providers in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales for all undergraduate courses (with the exceptions outlined below). Undergraduate courses are those:

• Submitted in the HESA Student record with Qualification.QUALCAT beginning H, I, J and C. Additionally, courses with a Qualification.QUALCAT of M0002 (integrated masters courses) should be included.
• Submitted in the LAD/LARS with a NotionalNVQLevelv2 of 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, H and also: a Learning Aim Type of 0084, 1449, 1450, 1451, 1457, 1458, 1459, 1465, 1466, 6003, 9001, 9110, 9111, 9112; or a Learning Aim Type of 0394, 1406, 1407, 1408, 1409, 1462, 6002, 9000, 9002, 9107, E007 (except where the Learning Aim Reference is 00241018); or a Learning Aim Type of 6001, 9113 (except where the Learning Aim Reference is 00301458); or a Learning Aim Type of 0032, 1454 (except where the Learning Aim Reference is 00304788, 00304790); or a Learning Aim Reference of 60102548, 60104624, 60104636, 60105185, 6010580X, 60112281, 60114629, 60116225, 60123837, 60124453, 60125032, 6012717X, 60132644, 60153507, 60161991, 60179752, 60181229, 60305757. Courses for which a Discover Uni course should not be returned

There are some courses at providers for which no Discover Uni course information is required, these are:

• All postgraduate courses and graduate entry programmes (including stand-alone Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) part 2 or graduate entry medical courses), with the exception of Qualification.QUALCAT of M0002, referenced in the Student record,
• Courses where the total FTE of the course is one year or less when studied full-time (i.e. 120 credits or less for its entirety),
• Courses where the total FTE of the course is equal to one year that has more than 120 credits,
• Closed courses (as defined in Course.CLSDCRS) - courses that are not open to any suitably qualified candidate and will typically be courses offered only to employees of particular organisations,
• Courses offered mainly overseas, which the funding body has not specifically sanctioned as eligible for funding. A course is considered to be offered mainly overseas if, for all students, the majority (over 50%) of their study is overseas. Sandwich courses and courses incorporating a language year abroad will not typically meet this definition, as the time spent abroad will not be the majority of the course,
• Intercalated degrees,
• A course that is run in the UK but only for international and/or EU students,
• Top-up courses,
• A course that is run specifically as a part of an apprenticeship.

The following code has been changed to align across the Student and Discover Uni (formerly Unistats) records.

20701 = Accreditation Type for 'Approved by Social Work England (SWE) for the purpose of providing eligibility to apply for registration with SWE as a social worker in England'

To be amended to be:

06921 = Accreditation Type for 'Approved by the Social Work England for the purpose of providing eligibility to apply for registration with Social Work England as a social worker in England'

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) accreditation codes have also been updated to more accurately describe the nature of the accreditation.  The new labels will be:

11102   Approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for the purpose of registration as a qualified nurse (adult)

11103   Approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for the purpose of registration as a qualified nurse (mental health)

11104   Approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for the purpose of registration as a qualified nurse (learning disabilities)

11105   Approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for the purpose of registration as a qualified nurse (child)

11106   Approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for the purpose of registration as a qualified midwife

11107   Approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a post-registration and CPD qualification

11108   Approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for the purpose of registration as a qualified nurse or midwife

11109   Approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for the purpose of registration as a qualified nursing associate
