Higher Education Statistics for the UK: Change of publication format

We are committed to making our statistics more useful and accessible. We are therefore proposing to change the way Higher Education Statistics for the UK (HEUK) is published from 2017. In summary we propose to release all the same content free of charge in tranches throughout the year as each stream of data becomes available.

Proposed changes to Higher Education Statistics for the UK

  • All HEUK data to be published free of charge on the HESA website under a Creative Commons 4.0 licence

  • 2015/16 Student data from HEUK (main tables and introduction tables/text/charts) to be published in February 2017 at the same time as our Students in Higher Education publication

  • 2015/16 Staff data from HEUK to be published in February 2017 at the same time as our Staff in Higher Education publication

  • 2015/16 Finance data from HEUK to be published in April 2017 at the same time as our Finances of Higher Education Providers publication

  • 2015/16 Destinations data from HEUK to be published in July 2017 at the same time as our Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education publication

  • HEUK data from external (non-HESA) sources to be published at the earliest of the above publication dates at which they are available

  • HEUK data tables to be marked as National Statistics and presented together on the HESA website, building to a complete collection matching previous years' contents.

Feedback

If you think this proposal is a good idea and would be helpful to you - or if you don't like the idea at all - we would really appreciate hearing your views. We would also value any other feedback on what else we could do to improve this publication to better suit your needs. Please answer these three questions to let us know what you think [Deadline for responses: 8 September 2016].
