Notes to tables - Destinations of Leavers Longitudinal survey 2008/09

  1. Analyses of subject information show Full Person Equivalents (FPE). These are derived by splitting student instances between the different subjects that make up their qualification aim.

  2. Creating a portfolio was added as an activity to the Longitudinal survey in 2006/07, therefore it is shown as '-' in tables that include data from earlier years. 

  3. Leavers of indeterminate gender are included in total figures and percentage calculations but not in separate gender breakdowns.

  4. Leavers of unknown age are included in total figures and percentage calculations but not in separate age breakdowns.

  5. Leavers whose ethnicity is not known include those who have been coded information refused.

  6. Leavers with no known disability include those who have been coded no known disability, information refused, information not sought, or not known.

  7. First degree data submitted without a classification is included in total first degree figures but not in separate breakdowns.

  8. Leavers with unknown salary have been excluded.  Median salaries are displayed to the nearest £500 as the survey collects salary to the nearest thousand pounds.

  9. Leavers whose region of domicile is England region unknown and UK region unknown are included in total figures but not in separate breakdowns.

  10. Total England excludes UK domiciled leavers who are known to be employed in England but whose exact England region of employment is unknown.

  11. Leavers answering 'Never considered being self employed' have been excluded from percentage calculations but totals are shown for context.
